Four New Ways to See Whistler
As anyone who had a TV during the last Winter Olympics knows, Whistler can hold its own amongst the world's best ski areas. But there are more ways to see the mountains than just zooming down them in a snow suit. Here are four ways to get a whole new perspective.
Golf Cart
The valley floor slumbers under dramatic snowy mountain peaks, emerging fresh and ready for play in the summer. Whistler's four signature golf courses welcome players of all levels, offering a more relaxed—though no less challenging—test of athletic skills. "Stay + Play" are golf packages offered through many local accommodations.
Bike. Stop. Eat. Repeat.
Even people who don't normally consider mountain biking to fall under the category of "fun vacation pastime" might be able to attack August's annual Slow Food Cycle with gusto. As the name indicates, this back-to-the-land tour takes a leisurely pace, and the bike trail is really just a path from one delicious stop to the next. Oh and one other important thing: This isn't even technically mountain biking; it takes place in the farmland flats of Pemberton, right outside Whistler resort.
Peak-to-Peak
Get a birds-eye perspective aboard the Peak-to-Peak Gondola, which spans the 2.7 mile distance from Whistler to Blackcomb peaks. This is the longest continuous lift system in existence and the highest of its kind. No wonder locals call it out as a must-do aerial attraction, not simply a way to get from one mountain to the other.
Life is a Journey
Take a train to Whistler from Vancouver and experience the Canadian Rockies as a journey, not a destination. Known as the "Sea to Sky Climb," it winds along the coast, cuts through canyons, goes deep into the mysterious forests and then starts climbing those epic mountains—equally snapshot-worthy whether you're traveling through all the colors of spring/summer or during the whiteout snow season.

I would encourage everyone to come out and rent a mountain bike. Even if extreme biking is not your thing. You can either head up to some of the cruiser runs in the bike park or head out to lost lake. You won't regret it.
