Classic Americana: Cincinnati Chili
Cincinnati, Ohio, has had its share of comparisons. The city's pioneering urban contemporaries were Pittsburgh and Nashville; its prominent position on the Ohio River meant it joined the likes of Louisville and New Orleans as a 19th-century "riverboat" town. During the industrial revolution, Cincinnati drew waves of immigrants, similar to Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Detroit. But one Cincinnati characteristicworld-famous chili served over spaghettiremains distinctly its own.
