Austria Vineyards Get a 21st-Century Flavor
Austria's two millennia of winemaking heritage have recently found distinctly 21st-century digs in Langenlois, a wine-growing center in the northeastern province of Lower Austria. Designed by famed New York architect Steven Holl, the Loisium's cube-shaped visitor's center guides oenophiles down into a cavernous network of 900-year-old wine cellars for a journey through the history, myth, and science of great winemaking.
